European Manual
The European Manual of Dental Practice, commissioned by the CED, first published in 1997 and updated in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2014, 2015, and its latest 2026 version in collaboration with the European Regional Organization of the FDI World Dental Federation (ERO), aims to provide comprehensive and detailed information for dentists who are considering working in another country.
It has been written as a practical “handbook” in which information is easy to find and understand, and is aimed at dentists, dental students, policy makers and others interested in the regulatory environment for dentistry in the EU and the wider WHO European region (including countries across Europe and Central Asia).
The latest 2026 edition of the European Manual of Dental Practice describes dental training requirements, general and oral health systems and the organisation of dental practice in 39 European countries of the EU and EEA.
The 2026 edition introduces seven new chapters, expanding the scope of the European Manual to encompass the wider WHO European Region. These chapters include: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Romania, and Türkiye.
