On 20 of February, CED President Dr. Marco Landi met with the President of the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE), Prof. Stéphanie Tubert-Jeannin to sign the position statement calling for Member States to prevent illegal education practices by complying with all provisions listed in the Professional Qualifications Directive (PQD).
The statement is in response to recent unauthorised education practices which were denounced and judged illegal by a French Supreme Court judgement in 2017. Diplomas listed in the PQD provide a guarantee of having completed minimum dental training. Knowing that some students attended the first 2 years of their dental studies in illegal institutions, the CED and ADEE question if they meet the minimum legal requirements of the PQD.
Graduating European dentists that are responsible for the safe and effective delivery of dental care, that receive a formation qualification to expected European requirements are the priority for CED and ADEE in order to remain committed to the founding values and the mobility of Dentists within European Union.
