After today’s vote in the European Parliament’s Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) Committee, CED President Marco Landi stated:

“We regret that the Committee did not vote in favour of the exclusion of healthcare professions from the proposed Directive on a Proportionality Test before the Adoption of new Regulation of Professions. We hope that the three institutions involved in the negotiations of the final text – Commission, Council and Parliament – will nonetheless take into account the need to protect patients and public health during their talks early next year. The CED will continue to advocate for policies that are in the best interest of public health, patients and dentists.”
